As cheap as it is...
Welcome to the Fight Club.

Here, obviously you're going to find the RULES. The basic stuff for the introductory here... RULES were ment to be followed, if broken, you pay the price. (Ejection) All rules are subject to discussion and change.

NOTICE:
As of now, these rules have been taken to a lighter level. The rules are... uhh.. bendable. To a point. The "Rules" should be considered "Achievements" That means, that you don't have to be ABSOLUTELY capable of complying with all of these rules. But you have to make them goals. You can't just read 'em, and throw 'em out the window.
We WILL notice...

This text is as public as the Club. I'm not STEALING any transcripts.

GUIDELINES:
Only one of each character allowed. Survival of the fittest, bad representation will be ejected.(Like Rinoa turning into a lonewolf, without any good reasons. If you WANT your character to have a great change, let me know your reasons. If you don't have reasons, then I may help you come up with one, depending on the basis of the change.) Paragraph style (No one-liner posts, unless necessary) Created characters are allowed, only if they have no intention of becoming absolutely main. (Like taking Squall or Rinoa's place or Ultimecia.)

The Disciplinary Committee

Things that are NOT BENDABLE

1.) The Guidelines, unless otherwise indicated.(Constantly posting one-liners... NOT acceptable!)

2.) Over inflated egos with your characters.

3.) You MUST acknowledge other characters, even if you character is ignoring (Or going to) as an action.

4.) Child fighting. (IE, Squall uses Ultima only to find out that the soldier he attack had an "anti-magic device" that he just made up.)

5.) Having unlimited sources of extremely powerful magic or GFs, without taxing effects.(Sorceresses have an advantage, however... but still, they're not unlimited. These advantages will not be abused.)

6.) You MUST think of future consequences for all of your actions, even if it may not happen.(IE, on a small scale of an example, say Seifer asked Rinoa out. You know Rinoa would probably say no, but you should always plan on what happens if she says yes.)

7.) No abusing the plot to make your character seem like the ultimate evil or the ultimate good, or other such extremes.

8.) If you use 'R' in place of 'Are' or any other replacement of that sort, in a non-joking situation, you WILL be ejected (Eegeekted)... That's a promise.

The Motivation Task Force

Things that are BENDABLE

1.) No posts made for long periods of time: This is bendable if you have a good reason. Let us know, if you can, if you think you'll be leaving soon.

2.) Dedication: Posting regularly and relevantly. This is only bendable under very CERTAIN conditions.

3.) IC feelings: Considering IC feelings is bendable, however, I STRONGLY recommend you think about the respect of the owner of the character before doing something humiliating.

4.) Powerful Magic: You may have powerful magic, however, I will be counting what types and how many times you use that magic.

5.) OOC Conversations: Yes, you may converse OOCly, however, if it turns into a long conversation that does not have anything to do with the club, please move the conversation to e-mail.

6.) Survival of the Fittest: Yes, the Infamous Survival of the Fittest rule has been notched down a bit. Trial periods have increased, including neglect.

7.) Neglect: You may only have a certain amount of Neglect. Meaning, I'll count how many times you neglect to post over 3 days without telling me anything. If you exceed the limit of what is bareable to me, you will be ejected.

8.) Newbies: Let me take this moment to say that this club is NOT FOR NEWBIES. However, if you absolutely MUST enter, I'll give newbies a week-long trial period. Consider yourself lucky if I give you this trial period.

Another note:
Everyone will get their chance in the spotlight. I'll personally make sure of that. Just make sure you're ready when you get it.

Elongated Mission Statement

Please read this if you intend to join. This is what I'm trying the achieve.

First off allow me to introduce myself. My name is Brian, and the reason why I'm hosting this Club is because I'm looking for good RPers other than my small circle of friends, of whom shall remain nameless. My group is very good at what they do, and the RP is of the highest quality I've seen so far, except once. This one time gives me faith that there are more people out there like us. I've been RPing for almost 8 years (That's about since I was 8, and this was on one of the oldest servers around, named Prodigy.) So, I have to evaluate myself as very well experienced.

I happen to enjoy Final Fantasy 8 because of it's deep government-based plot. I happen to like writing that sort of thing, inspired by a fanfic called Purgatio. Of course, FF8 is a game where the theme is love. I, of course, enjoy writing this, too. I happen to like being very analytical, and sometimes (maybe too) dramatic. Enjoying all things like this, my paragraphs tend to get pretty long... Pages long. Of course, as seriously in plot as all this seems, I enjoy any shot at humor... maybe even sometimes if it's a little cheap or even lame or stupid. But, let's try to be as expertise about this as possible.

Here's the mindset. Here we are, an entire group, (Or two people, but expect to get a lot of people since this IS an FF8 RP) sitting together, and thinking. You can imagine burnt out ciggarettes and smoke trying to filter out a tiny window if you like. Like a bunch of executives, we're trying to think of something that we could toss out for the enjoyment of other people. But we're not cheap, where we're trying to exploit feelings or make something just for money. By entertainment for other people, we entertain ourselves. We're trying to write something so we can look back on it, and heave sigh of content.

Thank you for taking the time out to read this, I greatly appreciate it since usually all people want to do is 'Yeah, yeah, yeah, screw you, I know what I'm doin'.' Please take it all into consideration, and try to help me to share this type of style with others. If you are willing to learn this style, and in the same way, are willing to have a character who is laid back in the plot, I shall accept your character. One question you must answer me if you join this club: Have you read Purgatio?

Quality Not Met

This was said later on, when problems were experienced, and quality was not being met.

Well, alright, then. When I created this RP, it was INTENDED to be a strict RP. I want nothing but dedication. People who aren't dedicated enough, shouldn't be in this RP. Had my 1st post, the Elongated Mission Statement been read, you probably would have understood that.

Also, you should probably understand that, wether an RP is fun or not, it's not considered an RP when you don't pay attention to what the other people are doing. RPing is a group project... you can't RP alone.

I know I sound like a jerk, but look... due to past experiences, I find it's better to note the problem in its infancy. If anyone else feels that this is too tight for you, leave now, before your character becomes too attached. (If not already, but it's better, anyway...)

If you feel that you're not having fun, talk to me about it. You may feel frustration, but is it a frustration you enjoy? Like the kind you feel while reading a book? Or simple frustration where you feel you can't enjoy yourself? I recommend you let me know, and/or resign.

This RP was dedicated to the creation of an FF8 story, rather than a race to find who has the better character, like I see in those Yahoo! Chats. The immaturity of those public RPs I found, was absolutely incredible. I will not allow my club to be reduced to that level. These are several things I saw--

1.) One character would not acknowledge another, even though they were directly addressed.

2.) CHEAPNESS in fighting. (The "Bang! I shot you! You're dead!" "No, I'm not, I was wearing a bullet-proof vest" kind of play.)

3.) Nobody ever thought of a story, or plot to follow.

4.) Everything was always a one-shot RP. All of them were dedicated to the coolness factor of the character. One person would talk over the other, attempting to overshadow each other.

5.) People tended to highlite themselves, making themselves look like the ultimate evil. This violates #3, since there's no plot, and therefore, can't HIGHLITE themselves to APPEAR evil. At best they come off as an irritation, and get ignored for being cheap, by throwing out lame tactics that made them appear evil, without a plot to be evil in.

6.) Spelling with 'interesting' characters (the letters). (ie., Killz, How r u 2day?, Thiz IZ 4 u.) A few misspelled words, or typos are ok, but purposefully spelling badly is just horrible. Especially when the typer feels he's some kind of super hacker, or in-the-know about technology. Most of us don't type like that... ::Pushes his taped-up glasses up his nose.:: B·) This doesn't include mis-typing stuff to sound differently. Like saying 'ebil' (Because it's like a child) or saying 't'day' (People skip the 'o' when they say it) or like sh'tuff because it's, once again, childish.

All this noted, I've outlined exactly what I want this club NOT to be. I guess I'll have to write up a rules page on my website and add a few amendments.
Guess what?!

If anyone else has any arguments, let me know. Rebuttles are welcome as well as comments or questions... even insults. Let me say that those who remain. I have great faith in your abilities. I see dedication, and expertise in all your posts... And I hope this experience doesn't alter your opinion of me too much. I'm only wishing for the best of this.

-Brian

Dealing with failed founders
The bold lettering are pieces of a post, directed at my actions towards an undedicated RPer (Annie). Hodadaps was a founder of my club, poorly chosen. Shortly after this post, he resigned.

Hodadaps:
Brian I see where you're coming from with your arguments, I see that a lot in RPs as well. However I do think you're being unfair to the new members, this is what, the second person you've driven away by being this way? Bringing this clubs membership back down to a grand total of 4 again?

First of all, Annie was the first. That wd-whatever nickname was because he didn't have any intention of RPing. I gave more time than I said I would for him to reply to me, and he didn't. Not by email, not by nothing... This is a club for RPing, not for watching. If you're gonna watch, don't become a member.

Hodadaps:
I have a club of my own as well, and well I wish that all my members are excellent, I know that some people out there arent aspiring writers like we seem to think we are. When someone comes along that isnt that great, I help them along. Post with them, chat with them about their character, not just criticize them.

Alright and what's even worse, is these people are trying to play and have fun, the dedication is there, however you wont give them a chance because they dont live up to your expectations. Annie for example, really did want to become a part of the RP, but after like every post you slammed her, hell I would have left sooner than she did.

I'm not hosting a club for people without dedication. Annie had no dedication. She just posted WHATEVER she felt like posting, and felt it didn't even have to be relevant. I didn't "slam" her every time she posted. I TOLD her what was wrong when she posted, and if someone can't take criticism, then THEY don't belong here either. You were awfully quiet while I "slammed" Annie. If you felt I was wrong, the way I treated Annie, you should've said something, and I may have let YOU handle the situation. That's why I made you founder. I make founders because they are a prime example of what I expect-- good skills in writing, attentive, and so on. I ALSO made you a founder because I need help running a club. I know I'm not always going to be right. That's WHY I *LOOK* for partnership. You tell me to loosen the reigns, but you forgot something important. You've got them, too. If you didn't notice until now, that what I was doing was wrong, then you're just as wrong as I was. If you've got a problem with the way I handle newbies, do something about it. Don't sit there, and THEN bitch about it after they've left. You've shirked your duties as a Founder. I'm sorry I made you one, so that I couldn't delete you when you gave up. If you're such a good manager of your club, how come you didn't do anything here?

Hodadaps: So, with that said, take care of your club and loosen your reigns, otherwise Im sure you'll be hovering around the 3 members mark for quite a while longer.

I'm looking for QUALITY not QUANTITY. That was something I made sure of in the beginning. Like I said, survival of the fittest. This club, as I have emphasized from the beginning, is not a club for newbies, or people who THINK they have an idea of what it's all about.

It has been my general experience, that newbies, when I offer help, don't WANT to learn. They may claim it, but really they don't listen. Instead, they get mad.

I'm getting pretty damn tired of this. I eliminate one person, who OBVIOUSLY didn't care, and my founder leaps all over me. I'm working my ass off to show how much quality I'm looking for, how PROFESSIONAL I want this RP to be... so all of the sudden, I should be nice to people who don't make it. I thought you understood that, when you entered. I stated it in the Elongated Mission Statement, I don't know how it was misinterpereted. And, gee, over there on the left hand side... I thought it said "Survival of the Fittest" Does that mean to you, that I should let everyone and anyone who FEELS they can make it? No! At least, it shouldn't.

I didn't open up this club so I could spend all day teaching newbies how to RP. I've been RPing for a very long time... I think I delt with those newbies, and gave enough of them lessons, to turn away, and be strict to them. Enough of them turned their back on me, and I'm sick of it. I don't want to deal with newbies anymore.

Quality is in the eye of the beholder-- if your idea of quality is different, then you should have spoken up earlier.

I know you're probably angry for all the things I've said. (Unless you just don't care...) But right now, all you are is an example of something I won't accept in my club-- laziness. (As if I hadn't said that from the beginning)
